Sensory Room

The Sensory Integration Room

A Sensory Room is extremely therapeutic for children with sensory processing difficulties.

Sensory integration therapy is based on the assumption that the child is either over stimulated or under stimulated by the environment. The aim of sensory integration is to improve the ability of the brain to process sensory information so that the child will function better in his/her daily activities.

The sensory room is designed to make the child run into it and play.

Children are guided through a series of activities in a way that is stimulating and challenging. Children have specific activities dependent on their individual needs.

Snoozelan

Snoozelen is a therapy room for the children.

It consists of placing the child in a soothing and stimulating environment, The "Snoozelen room". These rooms are specially designed to deliver stimuli to various senses, using lighting effects, color, sounds, music, scents, etc. The combination of different materials on a wall may be explored using tactile senses, and the floor may be adjusted to stimulate the sense of balance.
